HOUSE RULES

Checking in / Checking out and payment policies

-  Check-in is from 6:00am to 11:00pm.

- Check-out time is at 12:00pm noon. Later check-outs generate a $15 pesos per hour fee.

- Lodging payments are due upon register.

- Locker keys require a $100 peso deposit, refundable upon returning the key.

Door policies

- Hostel access is denied after 11:30pm, unless previously notified and agreed upon with hostel managers/staff. Later arrival will generate a $100 pesos fine. Reoccurrences may terminate lodging services. This policy is strictly enforced for the safety of all hostel guests.

House safety and behavior policies

- Open food and beverage containers are not allowed in the bedrooms. For preparing your own food, you may use the kitchenette and the main kitchen during allowed hours. You are also welcome to use the restaurant and exclusive guest common-areas for eating.

- Guests should wash and properly put away any cooking/kitchen or common area utensils or objects that get used. Examples of this are plates, silverware, cooking pots and books from common areas.

- Smoking is prohibited in the rooms and in common areas. Consumption and possession of illegal drugs and any psychotropic substance is also strictly forbidden. Breaking these rules will be immediately notified to corresponding authorities.

- Noise regulation is in effect after 10pm.

- Complete silence is observed from 12pm midnight till the following morning. Inappropriate behaviors that disturb other hostel guests, staff and neighbors are not tolerated.

- Get-togethers and parties that disturb night-time silence are not allowed. Also, social gatherings that engage in destructive or offensive behavior to hostel's installations or towards other guests at any time are not tolerated.

- Do not lock your room door. For safety and cleaning purposes, the rooms need to remain open. If you are worried about your belongings, the Hostel can provide you with a locker key.

- Non-registered visitors or non-hostel guests are not allowed in the rooms, to stay overnight or to use any of the hostel's installations, such as showers or exclusive common-areas. Infringing guests will be charged for every non-registered person trespassed and will be denied further hostel service. You can welcome your visitors in the restaurant area, but they must leave before 11:00pm.

- All damages to hostel installations, including unnecessary tarnishing and uncleanliness are responsibility of the engaged hostel guest. In case of group travel, the group leader/representative will be held responsible. The Hostel will demand immediate cash payment to cover maintenance and repair costs.

Luggage and guest property policies

- Hostel management is not responsible for lost, stolen or misused objects from bedrooms and from the common areas. All valuable objects should be registered with the hostel managers and be kept in secure lockers.

- Belongings, such as backpacks, towels and books, should be kept on top of the guest’s bed to avoid confusions with other roommates. This also helps to avoid losing objects under the bed or misplaced under someone else's bed.

- Hygiene products, such as shampoo, scrubs and tooth paste should be kept away after use. The hostel reiterates that it is not responsible for any lost or misused objects.

Cancellation, refunds and non-notified absence policies

- Individual clients with reservations that cancel have the right to a complete refund of their deposit only when the cancellation is made to hostel managers with at least eight days notice. Cancellation made with two to seven days notice will receive a 75% refund. There are no deposit refunds to spontaneous cancellations, or for clients that fail to arrive on their reservation date, unless given a 48 hour notice of the change in their arrival plans. All situations are taken on a case by case basis, and results may vary depending on the client's traveling situations and circumstances. There are no refunds to clients claiming unawareness of the collective, sharing-space nature of hostel lodging.

- Cancellations and reservation changes made by groups for five or more rooms will be handled case by case depending on the group's travelling situations and circumstances.

- Absences for more than 24 hours, without previous notification to hostel managers, may lead to reassign the guest's bed to another client, without any guarantee of vacancy upon their return. The guest's luggage will be stored and returned upon payment of a storage fee.

- Absences for more than 72 hours, without previous notification to hostel managers, may automatically cancel contracted lodging reservations. Pending on the circumstances, left behind luggage could be appropriated and used to cover unpaid reservations.

The Hostel reserves its right to terminate lodging services when any of the mentioned house rules are violated. The Hostel also reserves the right to withhold and deny refunds of any forward payments. Even after terminating a guest's services for violating these House Rules, he/she will still be held responsible for any damages caused.

El Cenote Azul management reserves the right to attend and remain without responsibilities any other situation unforeseen in these House Rules.
