HOW TO GET HERE:
- BY SUBWAY (METRO):
---Walking time from station to hostel: 4 minutes---
---Subway ticket: $3 pesos (25 cents USD)---
- Look for the green line that goes from "Indios Verdes" Station to
"Universidad".
- You want to take it in the direction going to "Universidad".
- Get off at "Copilco".
- This station, which is our stop, is one before Universidad.
- It is located on the corner of "Eje 10" and "Cerro del Agua" avenues.
- Outside the station look for the corner with a 7-11 store.
- The street in front of the store is called "Av. Cerro del Agua"
- Walk along the street Cerro del Agua (it has trees in the middle), towards the University's (UNAM) main gate.
- Once you reach the University gate you take a left (without entering the University.) It is the only turn available. You can recognize the turn by the wall of a primary school made of rock.
- Follow the natural curve of the street and turn again at your first left.
- You should be on the street "Alfonso Pruneda".
- It's a very short street.
- It is between '"Ezequiel Ordonez" and "Leopoldo Salazar" streets.
- Look for us at No. 24. You can recognize us by our large gates painted with a blue scenery.
- Welcome home! You have found El Cenote Azul!!!
- Ahhh... have a rest and get ready for exploring Mexico City!
- BY TAXI:
- Ask driver to go to Metro (subway) Copilco.
- Once at the subway station, take Av. Cerro del Agua, which goes towards the University gate (UNAM)
- Take a Left once you arrive to the University's gate. (Do not enter the University).
- Follow the natural curve of the street.
- Turn again at your first Left.
- You will find us about half way down the block. A big brick building with a large garage door painted with a blue scenery.
- Welcome home! You have found the Cenote Azul Hostel! The best place to stay in all Mexico City! :)
- TIPS ON TAXIS:
- You will probably be better off printing these instructions in Spanish and giving them to the driver, or print out the map below.
- Do not get a street (unofficial) cab. If the taxi is unregistered it could be dangerous.
- There are places along the sidewalks all across Mexico City identified as "TAXIS SEGUROS". These are safer than hailing a cab from the street. Make sure the cab you get has number plates and a large poster in the window with the driver's Identification and photo.
TAXIS FROM AIRPORT: There are several taxi companies at the airport. Some are much cheaper than others. Make sure they don't give you a van, which is more expensive, unless you come in a group. Time: 30 minutes Cost for individual taxi: aprox. $250 ($20 USD) For van: aprox. $450 ($40 USD)
TAXIS FROM BUS TERMINALS:
- Tasquena, or the Southern terminal ("del Sur") is the closest one to the hostel.
- Connections all points South, like Acapulco, Puebla and Oaxaca.
- Taxi takes about 15 minutes, and costs no more than $70 pesos ($6 USD)
- Observatorio, or the Western terminal ("Poniente"):
- Connections all points West, like Morelia, Guadalajara and Mazatlan. Some US-MEX routes.
- Taxi: Aprox. 25 min., $100 pesos ($8 USD)
- TAPO, or the Eastern Terminal ("Oriente"):
- Connections all points East, like Chiapas, Cancun, Veracruz and Guatemalan border.
- Taxi: Aprox. 35 minutes, $150 pesos ($12 USD)
- Del Norte, or the Northern terminal:
- Connections all points North, like Leon, Guanajuato, Monterrey and US-MEX border.
- Taxi: Aprox. 50 minutes, $200 pesos ($17 USD)
- OTHER TIPS:
- If you arrive at the "Taxquena" Southern Mexico City bus terminal, you will have a much closer trip to the hostel (15-20 mins.) Outside the bus stop you can catch a mini-bus (looks like a big van, called "combi,) or a small city bus (called "pesero".) Look for the one that goes to Metro "Copilco". It should cost you 3 to 4 pesos (25 cents USD).
